Dr. Maryam Bakhtiyari
Dr. Maryam Bakhtiyari is a leading expert in Orthodontics, TMJ disorders, sleep apnea, and craniofacial pain. With over 30 years of experience, she has transformed thousands of smiles and helped countless patients achieve better health through non-invasive, non-extraction, holistic treatments.
Her practice specializes in early intervention orthodontics, using functional orthopedic appliances to guide and develop the upper and lower jaw. By focusing on proper jaw development and alignment, she aims to prevent and treat conditions such as sleep apnea and TMJ dysfunction.
Dr. Bakhtiyari’s approach not only creates beautiful, well-aligned smiles but also promotes optimal health and overall well-being.
Dr. Maryam earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of the Pacific after completing her undergraduate studies in biochemistry at UCLA. She opened her practice in South Bay, California, where she has dedicated her career to advancing orthodontics, airway health, and TMJ treatment.
She is a Diplomate of the International Board of Orthodontics, the American Board of Craniofacial Pain, and the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, as well as a Distinguished Fellow of the American Board of Craniofacial Pain. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Maryam is the creator of BLA Fit, a facial fitness device designed to relieve jaw tension, improve facial aesthetics, and support TMJ therapy. She is also a strong advocate for early airway and TMJ screenings in children, recognizing the impact of tongue posture, nasal breathing, optimal nutrition, and proper lip seal on long-term health. Beyond her practice, Dr. Maryam is a respected international speaker who has presented at women’s health conferences, wellness summits, and TEDx Manhattan Beach. She also leads study groups to educate practitioners on non-invasive, functional orthodontics.
